Bruce Morgan is an award-winning Navajo jeweler, who works with silver and gold. Bruce creates distinctive silver and gold overlay jewelry, which is prized by collectors in the U.S. and worldwide. Bruce Morgan has been an active jewelry maker since the 1970s. His work has been featured in “Arizona Highways” and “Southwest Art” magazines.

The silver and gold jewelry made by Bruce Morgan is extremely clean, his stamp work is distinctive and we are so honored that he has created 2 Miss Indian New Mexico crowns and the Miss Indian New Mexico Teen crown.

Graphic designer

Gabrielle “Gabby” Becenti originates from the Pueblo of Acoma, and her tribal affiliations are Acoma, Navajo (Dine), and Hopi. Gabrielle is the 2nd youngest out of her seven siblings and her parents are, mother, Colleen Becenti (Acoma, Navajo), and her father, Corey Torivio (Acoma, Hopi). She is a current student at The Institute of American Indian and Alaskan Native Arts, where she is studying in Studio Arts with an emphasis in Painting and she also takes an interest in photography, printmaking, and metal sculpting. We are so thankful that Gabby created the crown images that are seen on some of the merchandise items.

Gabrielle’s main 2 themes based on her artwork is traditional and alternative, in her print series that she is currently working on titled, “Edge Lords,” involves different animals manipulated to look like they belong in a death metal band. Her paintings take a different twist, where they feature pottery, woven sash, and woven rug designs in them, giving it a traditional feature.

weaver of the banner sashes

Keshshi!

Hello! Kolin Quam is from the Pueblos of Zuni and Laguna, but currently resides and works from Zuni, Nm. He is a young and upcoming textile artist, specializing in weaving sash belts as well as embroidery work. He has been weaving for 10 years and learned weaving in an art class during his sophomore year in highschool. Kolin took a great interest in the art and with a lot of patience and determination to learn, has come a very long way since then. Weaving is a lot of long days and sleepless nights with traveling to nearby Pueblo feasts and a couple art shows to display and sell his work. With the support of family, friends and fellow artists Kolin wouldn’t be where he is today and is excited to see where the road takes him with his art. He is very thankful for this opportunity to create these sashes. Elahkwa!
